In this inaugural edition of Pop Before It Pops! , I wanted to showcase an artist who was literally on the cusp of exploding, but still waiting on that one big push. I waited and waited for something other than just another sad guy with a guitar and then Emii appeared. Hailing from New York, this fast rising pop singer just had her the video for her debut single “Magic” cross a 1.3 million plays on Youtube and the song itself was recently added to rotation at KISS FM Chicago.
Personally, I think its great to find a developing pop talent that’s investing this much time in creating an image for herself. The video could easily be tossed aside as another performance video, but for a pop artist trying to make a name for yourself, what more could you expect? She looks good and sings a catchy song. Its exactly what pop music needs to sell and I think it deserves to do just that. I am interested to see a more serious, possibly soulful side hopefully in the future, but for now, this seems like the little song that could [if enough people learn it exists].
